Sira

Set in the Sahel desert, the film tells the story of Sira, a young Fulani woman, who is travelling to meet her groom Jean-Sidi. Suddenly, she and her family are attacked by Islamist terrorists. All the men are shot dead and the gang leader kidnaps the rebellious Sira and leaves her for dead in the desert. Sira takes refuge in a cave and devises a survival plan. The film emerges as a real revenge thriller when she contacts the sex slaves in the camp.
This film won the Audience Award in the Panorama section at the Berlinale 2023.
