Burundi, April 2015. Thousands gather in the streets of Bujumbura to manifest against Pierre Nkurunziza's third mandate. A failed coup plunges the country further into repression and violence. Families flee the country. Eddy Munyaneza, director, films the demonstrations and later the persecutions and its victims. His artistic and social commitment disrupts his family, who decides to leave for Rwanda without him. Due to the increased violence, he too is forced to flee his country. Refugee in Senegal, far from his family, he begins a long inner journey, caught in the images and the memories of the crisis in Burundi. Nine months later, he goes searching for his children in Rwanda. On both sides of the border, he meets people who stayed in Burundi and people living in exile. Their accounts, often fragmentary and brutal, show great uncertainty.
