Samia is not much concerned with the political turbulence in her home country, Somalia. She is mostly focused on her great passion: running. While she trains for hours, she dreams of a professional career as an athlete. The ultimate goal would be to participate in the Olympics, but that’s not an easy challenge. Samia has to fight against oppression, gender discrimination and violence. Fortunately, as a young woman, she does not stand alone. Thanks to the unconditional support of her family, she never loses hope of achieving her big dream, even if it comes at a high price. 

This documentary about resilience and dreams tells the true story of Somali athlete Samia Yusuf Omar. Director Yasemin Şamdereli filmed her biography in a respectful and impressive way.
