BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions, based on a video installation by Kahlil Joseph, is a cinematic work structured like a music album, with 21 distinct “tracks” and a carefully crafted sound design.

The film blends fictional and documentary elements and spans a period of 247 years, bringing together historical and constructed narratives about Black life and the diaspora. Aboard the transatlantic liner “The Nautica,” the ocean serves as a unifying element within the narrative structure. The work references thinkers such as W. E. B. Du Bois and Marcus Garvey, and also incorporates contributions from artists, archival material, and fragments from social media. The result is a layered representation of Black consciousness, collective memory, and history.
