SALANI

Salani (farewell) portrays the lives of three Mozambican adolescents of 11, 16 and 17 years of age, who migrate to South Africa, either forced by their families or lured by the promises of a better live. In a seamless mix of documentary and animation, this film reveals the knots that some families tie themselves into using “tradition” to mask the exploitation of their daughters. It also shows the twists and turns of the trafficking, sexual and labour exploitation by which these poor, illegal and defenseless adolescents are easily held hostage.
