Procès Mbako, Anioto homme léopard

Spoken: French

The resistance of the Congolese population against the Belgian colonisation and its repression took various forms. The Anioto-Leopard Men, a secret esoteric organization, carried out at night, like shadows, the sentences of the traditional chiefs targeting also accomplices of the colonial occupation. The attacks were carried out as if the victim had been killed by a leopard. After a series of attacks on colonial auxiliaries, one of the chiefs, Mbako, member of the Mabela the organisation of the Leopard men, was arrested by the colonial administration and hanged in 1933 in Wamba North East of DR Congo. For the colonialists he was a terrorist, but for the Congolese he was a resistance hero.
