MOOLAADE

Seven years ago Collé Ardo, a mother who was circumcised, has saved her daughter from the Purification (circumcision or genital mutilation). Having heard of this rebellious act, four young girls run into her arms to seek shelter at the time of the new septennial and ask for sanctuary, the Moolaadé. The turmoil that subsequently arises, is a conflict between two traditional values: Salinde (old tradition of circumcision) and Moolaadé (the right to protect the weak). The trick and trap of the dramatic conflict is that there is no hierarchy between these two traditional values.
