LUMUMBA
The year is 1957, three years before the forced, yet unexpected, independence of the Belgian Congo. Patrice Lumumba is an employee at the post office and a political activist in a party he will soon lead. Lumumba becomes Prime Minister of the New Congo. A few weeks later he is confronted with mutiny of the army and secession of the most prosperous provinces. Betrayed and abandoned, he was tortured and executed. Not only Mobutu or the Katangese government were responsible but also the Belgians and the Americans.
