Felix

Felix , a 14 -year-old boy from a poor neighborhood in Cape Town ( South Africa ) , wants to become a famous saxophonist , like his late father. But his mother hates jazz, which she sees as the cause of her husband's death.  When Felix wins a scholarship to a prestigious school,  he divides his time between two worlds: in the daytime the elite school evironment where he is bullied by the other boys, at night the township where he enjoys playing his saxophone. Felix hopes to reconcile these two worlds in the school jazz band , but he is refused because he cannot read music . Fortunately, he gets help from some Bozza Boys, the band with which his father once scored great successes.

This heart -warming and charming film is peppered with an infectious joie de vivre and inherent positivism . Nevertheless 'Felix' also criticizes the South African society of today . So far, Roberta Durrant won with her ​​film no less than six prizes , including ' Best Film ' at the European Youth Film Festival Antwerp 2014.
