Fanon

Spoken: French, Arabic / Subtitles: English

Frantz Fanon is a French psychiatrist from Martinique. He is known for his unconventional working methods that meet a lot of push back. This biopic follows his life, both personal and professional, from the moment he is appointed head of department at the psychiatric hospital in Blida, Algeria. Against the background of war and colonisation, this doctor remains true to his principles of fighting a battle in the name of all humanity.

Fanon was directed by Jean-Claude Barny. This director, with roots in Guadeloupe, Trinidad and Tobago, mixes influences of European arthouse cinema as well as American entertainment in his work. The result is a unique and multi-layered film for a wide audience about a man whom we haven’t heard the last about yet.
